*HON. JERRY YAW AMEKO PRESENTS WORKING TOOLS TO APPRENTICES IN ADAKLU DISTRICT UNDER NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME* The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adaklu, Hon. Jerry Yaw Ameko has on Thursday 12th of February 2026, presented working tools to beneficiaries of the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) in the Adaklu District of the Volta Region, on behalf of the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon Governs Kwame Agbodza and President John Dramani Mahama. The National Apprenticeship Programme, a flagship initiative of the NDC administration, combines structured skills training with material support and certification, targeting young people across the country. The items distributed included manual and industrial sewing machines and knitting machines for seamstresses, welding boots, and protective glasses for welders among others. The presentation forms part of the government’s ongoing implementation of the National Apprenticeship Programme, which seeks to equip young people with employable skills and provide them with the tools necessary to transition into sustainable livelihoods. Addressing the apprentices and their Mistresses in a brief ceremony at Adaklu Waya, the DCE stated that the intervention demonstrates government’s commitment to linking skills acquisition with practical resource support. He emphasized that beyond training, the provision of start-up tools is intended to remove structural barriers that often prevent trained youth from establishing themselves in their respective trades. The DCE noted that the initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the National Apprenticeship Programme, which focuses on reducing youth unemployment, strengthening vocational and technical capacity, and promoting inclusive economic participation at the district level. The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, indicating that the tools would significantly enhance their productivity and enable them to operate independently upon completion of their training. They were thankful to the president and the NDC government for instituting the Natioanal Apprenticeship Program and prayed that the NDC remains in Government so that more youths of their kind will be trained and equipped with income generating skills. The Adaklu distribution exercise represents the district-level operationalization of the programme’s broader national mandate.
